EARTHOLOGY
I am thoroughly excited about my new CD project “EARTHOLOGY”. It’s a perfect blend of poetry, jazz, hip hop, soul and Floyd Boykin Jr. The lead single “She Could Be My Wife” is creating a new buzz on the online communities. The CD will be released in a digital format initially, then a hard copy will follow shortly afterwards. I look forward to your feed back.

Okay y’all, I don’t usually mention religion, but I am a little bother by the notion that music that is created to inspired people is of the Devil if it’s not gospel. This conversation came about after I asked a young lady what type of music does she listen to. What did I do that for? She went on to say that she only listens to gospel music/certain of gospel/like old school Mahalia Jackson type of gospel. She stated that she can not serve two GODS by listening to two different types of music. I told her “Well, you know that Jesus didn’t listen to Gospel Music right? It’s hadn’t been created yet.” Needless to say that the conversation was then cut short, even though she agreed with my statement. I believe that they are many different ways to touch people who need to be touched spiritual. It does not have to be a gospel song for the message to be of GOD. If that inspirational show help you to rise up from depression, heartache, or any pain, I believe that it is GOD sent to that person. If you believe in a higher power, you probably believe that our talents are gifts and we are vessels delivering those gifts to all that need to be moved by it. That is my believe. Take “You Will Rise” by Sweetback featuring Amel Larrieux, or “Alright” by Ledisi, or “Rise” by Martin Luther. All of these songs move me to get up, get out and do something. They make my soul stronger and my mind fills with compassion and passion for my people and all of mankind (womankind). Songs like these are in my mind, musical revolution that embraces and seduces the innersoul. So what do you all think? Is Non-Gospel Music of the Devil? Or is the concept of Division Through Misguided Religious beliefs of the Devil?

First off, I do not want to offend anyone. But I know several Christians who are HIGH in doctrine, but low in Christian Personality. Everytime I see these particular Christians, they are frowning; looking mean. They are complaining a bit much to be someone who has found Jesus. Now finding Jesus doesn’t mean that you do not go through pain in life, but I think it’s hard to encourage or inspire someone to attend your church when your light is burned from candle. I think that whatever religious practices you are in, PRACTICE showing love, because people are really looking at you and tripping off of your energy. I be the light that you want others to see. There are some Christians that I have seen that is so powerful with that burning candle light that I have to say “I want what’s she is having.” And truthfully, that is how it should be. Being a witness for Christ is not always verbal. Your very presence should make people at least inquire about what it is that has you smiling all of the times. What ever you believe in, smile…show love…because the power of your energy goes a long way and sometimes, it can lead people to the same type of journey that you are on. Just thoughts on mean looking religious people who prejudge me because of many things that I do, but never look at themselves and how they can be a better warrior in faith. Holla back.

It is my belief that EVERYONE has some type of prejudice within them. After all, isn’t prejudice pre-judging someone or something based off of what you “THINK” you know, stereotypes and ignorance? Isn’t it having a preconceived opinion based on factual and non-factual events? Prejudice also plays a major part in being a racist, but I believe that you can have prejudice and not be racist. To me, a racist is one who believes in the system of hatred, oppression and superiority based on someone’s race. A racist usually believes that everyone, other than their race, is inferior. I had a conversation the other day with a young lady who is tried of meeting men that aren’t “any good.” She stated that she tried dating a white man because she believed that she was racist because she noticed that he didn’t season his food “correctly” or enough with salt and pepper. So she thought to herself that a Black person would have hooked that meal up. So she didn’t want to date him for that purpose. I thought that she had a prejudice against him based on the stereo type that white people do not season their food. She feels she was racist even though she was attempting to date this man who happens to be white. She wanted a relationship initially with him, but couldn’t do it. I personally thought that was very silly. Anyway, what do you think? Do you think she was being racist, prejudice, or just showing a sign of immaturity and ignorance on her part? Is there a difference between being prejudice or racist?

Open Mics…are they really open?
Are open mics really open? There’s a lot of “back scratching” going on at open mics. Many times, “the regulars” are over powering the mics and fresh new voices are not heard because of it. Check out our featured article on Open Mics and then come back and comment on it. How do you feel about venues playing favorites on the mic?
